SEN Teaching Assistant – SEN School

A specialist SEN school in Sevenoaks is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports children and young people with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), communication difficulties, and associated learning needs. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a highly supportive, well-resourced environment where staff are committed to delivering personalized education and care to every pupil.
The Role
- Support pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Assist with the delivery of tailored learning programmes
- Encourage independence, communication, and social development
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Contribute to a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Candidate Profile
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEN (particularly Autism)
- Are patient, resilient, and adaptable in their approach
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Are committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Ideal Backgrounds Include
- Experienced SEN Teaching Assistants
- Care or support workers transitioning into education
- Graduates (Psychology, Education, Health & Social Care, Speech & Language) with relevant SEN experience
