Job Description Overview

Transport, Climate and Place is a service area within the Environment and Communities Department. The team delivers a challenging and high‑profile programme that supports more sustainable travel, improves local environments, and helps create a greener, healthier borough. The service is involved in a wide range of initiatives, including walking and cycling improvements, traffic management schemes and parking interventions that support residents’ needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the assessment and delivery of personalised disabled parking bays, working closely with engineers and residents to ensure applications are processed in line with council policy and relevant legislation.
  • Conduct site visits, review parking conditions, assess safety and accessibility, and make evidence‑based recommendations to inform decision‑making.
  • Communicate with residents, carers and stakeholders, providing clear updates throughout the application process and responding to enquiries with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Assist in the administration of traffic orders, maintain accurate records, and contribute to performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Manage a varied workload, prioritising tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong organisational and data management skills.
  • Experience with data systems and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to work independently on site and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Comfortable with regular travel across the borough and working in a field‑based environment.
