Job Overview

Fluor’s Facilities Operations and Maintenance team seeks a General Maintenance Technician to support routine maintenance and periodic refurbishment projects at a mission‑critical facility in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom. This permanent, dayshift position runs Monday through Friday with flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Apply safe work practices to all job functions.
  • Participate in pre‑job briefings on risk assessments, hazard mitigation, and planned work activities.
  • Move materials using hand‑trucks, carts, and manual pallet jacks.
  • Install and modify modular furniture, cable management systems, equipment racks, raised flooring tile systems, modular carpet systems, and acoustical ceiling tiles and grid.
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks, including patching, plastering, painting, and decorating walls.
  • Clean work areas as required.
  • Handle access control activities in accordance with site security policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficient with hand tools and basic power tools.
  • Can work at heights via ladders, scaffolding, and powered lift equipment.
  • Capable of working in limited access locations such as raised flooring systems and under desks.
  • Able to lift, carry, and position furniture and building materials.
  • Strong communication skills with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Willing to learn and apply new skills and attend technical training.
  • Motivated to maintain high quality standards with strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • City & Guilds/NVQ in Carpentry & Joinery, Plastering, or Painting & Decorating.

To Be Considered Candidates

  • Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain an active enhanced DV security clearance (requires UK citizenship).
  • Authorized to work in the UK.
