Apprentice Design Engineer – Fire Suppression

Location: Bristol, UK. The apprenticeship involves work from the office at Johnson Controls, Unit 1 Westpoint Row, Almondsbury, Bristol, BS32 4QG and on customer sites across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Assist an experienced design engineer in creating fire suppression systems for industrial and commercial markets.
• Use tools such as AutoCAD, Revit 3‑D modelling and other design‑specific software to develop detailed designs and calculations.
• Conduct site surveys, collaborate with colleagues and develop design plans based on the data collected.
• Ensure designs comply with industry and legislative standards.
• Travel to client locations nationally as required; the company covers travel, accommodation and meals.

Qualifications

• GCSE in English and Maths – Grade 5 (C) or higher.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to pass SC clearance.
• Willingness to travel, work away and stay overnight in hotels when necessary.
• Team spirit, strong communication skills and a passion for technology and engineering.
