MDT Coordinator

Hours: Part time, 15 per week (Wednesday and Friday). All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

Salary: £28,392 to £31,157 per annum (pro rata)
We are seeking one or two skilled administrators, in a job‑share capacity, to support our Cancer MDT Coordination team. You will be the backbone of the patient journey, meticulously tracking patient pathways and ensuring the accuracy of national cancer waiting times datasets and disease registration.
Job responsibilities
- Track every step of a suspected cancer pathway to ensure no patient is missed.
- Prepare and facilitate treatment planning meetings (MDTs), including live‑typing outcomes.
- Escalate potential delays and ensure clinical information is shared securely with partner hospitals.
- Navigate multiple clinical systems to maintain data integrity under tight weekly deadlines.
- Track patients’ progress on a daily basis throughout the patient pathway.
- Record cancer referrals in a timely fashion into Somerset/PTL and ensure patients have a booked first appointment, investigation and procedure.

Qualifications and knowledge
- Good general education including English with a minimum of 5 GCSE (Grade A to C) or equivalent.
- Strong IT skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) to NVQ level 3.
- Typing qualification or equivalent experience.
- ECDL qualification or equivalent.
Experience
- Ability to accurately and efficiently input and retrieve information on a computerised system whilst adhering to complex local and national policies and guidelines.
- Experience of handling inbound and outbound telephone calls of a potentially sensitive nature.
- Experience working in a busy environment dealing with large numbers of queries from staff or the general public.
- Experience of using video conferencing equipment.
- Relevant secretarial/administration experience working within a clinical environment.
- Experience of using IT/Patient data systems such as E‑Care, EDM, E‑Referral, Winpath, PAC’s/Insight, ICE, Unisoft, Somerset Cancer Register (SCR) or similar.
- Audio typing experience.
