School/College Leaver Tax Trainee, East Midlands, September 2026

Looking to start your Tax career in 2026? Do you have a love of numbers, analytics and problem solving? Do you love building relationships?

Whether you have just completed your A Levels or just had some time out – our pathway can help you work towards being a qualified accountant!

Our Tax team is based at our East Midlands office. As a Tax Trainee, you will assist small teams to really understand our clients and what they want to achieve and advise them on how to get there.

Role to start September 2026 with interviews taking place Tuesday 9th June in our SkyView office!

About you…

We value people who continuously strive to learn, be brave, step out of their comfort zone and tackle new challenges. And above all, be nice!

Studying for a professional qualification while working is not an easy pathway. You will need to be committed and have amazing project management skills to balance studies and the day job. You need to be curious about companies and see our work as part of their success.

Our minimum requirement would be a minimum of three A Levels or equivalent with grades BBC (with a minimum of one A Level in numerics or business‑related subjects).

We’re mindful of candidates who may have extenuating circumstances whilst completing their education and did not meet the minimum academic requirements. We would be open to discuss and explore the pathway that matches you the best and welcome you to apply for the role, but please notify us of your extenuating circumstances that affected your results.

So, we look for people who…

  • Have great attention to detail, with a passion for numbers and a knack for following processes
  • Possess great communication skills, can build rapport and are comfortable approaching clients
  • Ask questions and deliver a brilliant client experience
  • Can adapt to changing priorities and work in different teams
  • Able to multitask – processing data, chasing information and prioritising your own workload
  • Play all in to support the wider team
  • Are excited about Tax and driven to succeed in the role and qualification

About the day to day…

  • Turning complex jargon into simple terms and actions for our clients
  • Making sure our clients are compliant by preparing and submitting their tax returns
  • Liaising with HMRC around tax returns and gaining tax reliefs
  • Generating new ideas, solutions and spotting opportunities to enhance our client offering
  • Keeping up to date with changes to legislation and the impact they may have on our clients

Alongside the day‑to‑day, you will also study for your ACA/CTA or ATT/CTA qualification through attending college courses and on‑the‑job training.

The pathway to qualification takes around four years if you’re a school/college leaver and you’ll be supported along the way by your colleagues, managers and our dedicated Student Support Manager.

What’s in it for you…

  • A flexible approach to work – balancing working from home, in office or with clients
  • An enhanced parental leave policy
  • No dress code – just “wear something!”
  • A multi‑award‑winning wellbeing offering to support your physical, mental, spiritual, and financial health
  • Volunteering opportunities to work closer with local communities and charities
  • Cooper Parry social/sports clubs

Feeling supported and welcomed is such a big part of bringing your whole self to work. As an equal opportunities employer, we’ll work with you to ensure you have everything you need to develop your skills and achieve your best.
