Senior Customer Insight Researcher

Based in: London

Reports to: Principal, Customer & Market Research

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake customer and market research covering end-to-end proposition design, including market analysis and supporting business and proposition leaders on business case development.
  • Represent the voice of the customer at senior leadership level to ensure that customer and market intelligence informs day‑to‑day decision making.
  • Champion customer and market research, challenge non‑customer‑focused plans and propose research solutions that profitably meet customer needs and wants.
  • Develop strong working relationships within the C&MR team and other functions to deliver tailored and relevant insights.
  • Deliver customer and market research projects – from briefing and design through to execution, customer recruitment, fieldwork, interviews, reporting, QA, analysis and presentation of actionable insights.
  • Conduct thorough desk research and synthesize insights appropriately.
  • Liaise with external partners such as research agencies or tool providers to ensure world‑class work and value for money.
  • Support the team lead with workflow, workload planning and budget management, aligning own workload with team objectives.
  • Share insights and ensure uptake by delivering presentations, debriefs and workshops to teams across the business.
  • Act as an ambassador for world‑class research methodologies, educating the wider organization on key research initiatives.

Attributes & Experience

  • Ability to learn quickly, solve problems creatively, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Thorough understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and their appropriate use.
  • Hands‑on qualitative researcher with experience designing discussion guides within a B2B setting.
  • Familiarity with Qualtrics (or a similar leading platform) to design, set up and launch surveys.
  • Experience performing desk research and obtaining relevant insights from publicly available information and news sources.
  • Flexibility in responding to changing business priorities and requirements.
  • Proven track record of producing results in a matrix organisation.
  • Minimum of three days a week working in the London office, with ability to influence from a remote environment.
  • Solid experience of customer and market research, including project management and delivery of credible, actionable insights.
  • Capability to manage projects and deadlines independently.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills; passion for storytelling and making complex data easy to understand.
  • Proficiency with Google suite products (GoogleSheets, GoogleSlides).
  • At least four years of direct experience in the market‑research industry (in‑house or agency) and experience managing research teams in B2B markets, ideally within media, news, information & data sectors.
