Working 36.5 hours per week. The position is a Peripatetic Cemetery Operative within Birmingham City Council Bereavement Services, covering 11 cemeteries and 3 crematoria.
Responsibilities
The role supports the Head of Bereavement Services, Registrars and Cemetery teams in delivering burial services 364 days a year and meeting statutory requirements. Key duties include:
- Deputising for the Foreperson and ensuring efficient, discreet service provision.
- Working Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday duties on a rotational basis across Sutton New Hall and other sites.
- Providing on‑site support for burials, crematoria services and ceremony arrangements.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Adapting to changing operational demands across the Birmingham area.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel around the Birmingham area.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Adaptability, prioritisation and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Team‑working attitude and motivation to develop skills and knowledge.
