Asphalt Plant Operative

Location: Wednesbury. Salary: Competitive.

Responsibilities

• Operate static and mobile plant machinery safely and efficiently.
• Plan daily production based on customer requirements and plant capabilities.
• Carry out start-up and shut-down procedures, optimizing throughput.
• Conduct thorough inspections and routine maintenance of plant equipment.
• Operate Front-End Loaders (FELs) and dumpers for material movement and plant feed.
• Refuel and maintain both static and mobile machinery.
• Maintain accurate records and report defects or near misses.
• Support operations at other local sites when required (travel allowance provided if applicable).

Key Accountabilities

• Safe and efficient operation of all plant equipment.
• Completion of daily inspection sheets and maintenance logs.
• Timely reporting of faults and issues to site management.
• Energy-efficient operation of machinery.
• Adherence to Heidelberg Materials safety and operational standards.
• Good timekeeping and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience in operating plant machinery (FELs, dumpers, etc.).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to nearby sites when needed.
• A proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
