Job Summary

Toucan (West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative) seeks a Professional Educator to support staff development, training, supervision, and career progression across mental health services.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, delivery, and evaluation of mental health training across commissioned CAMHS services.
  • Scope existing knowledge, skills, and competencies of the clinical workforce.
  • Collaborate with clinical leads to establish, implement, and maintain a developing Care Model in CAMHS Mental Health Services, underpinned by training, supervision, and professional development.
  • Ensure clear oversight, process, and evaluation of training needs analysis (TNA) for CAMHS MHS, working collaboratively with fellow Educators and the Workforce Development Lead.
  • Maintain accessibility and visibility across clinical pathways and teams to support ongoing staff development needs.
  • Create an environment that motivates, supports, engages, and leads staff in professional and career development conversations.
  • Offer and develop programs of training and education that facilitate the ongoing professional development for all levels of clinical and non‑registered clinical workforce.
  • Maintain a high clinical profile and work with mental health services to educate and develop knowledge and skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement and service evaluation, embedding learning to practice.
  • Support the translation of theory to practice with CAMHS Clinical Competencies.
  • Lead on Training Needs Analysis, identifying training and development needs alongside workforce skill gaps.
  • Support the delivery of a Workforce Development Strategy.
  • Establish and maintain an effective clinical educational environment that supports staff in delivering safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based care for children, young people, and their families.
  • Act as an expert resource, demonstrating high standards of care and clinical expertise in CAMHS mental health care.
  • Maintain a high clinical profile in the clinical environment, supporting and developing staff and contributing to clinical service needs.
  • Be highly flexible to support new initiatives, changes to practice, and embed evidence‑based practice in a wide range of clinical settings.
