Location: Bakersfield, Nottingham
Nottingham City Council are looking to appoint Children’s Residential Social Care Workers in a residential home for children and young people with disabilities. We provide 24‑hour care to young people who have severe learning disabilities, many of whom are on the autistic spectrum, and who may exhibit significant challenges in the management of their behaviour. The role includes working a shift pattern on a rota, with shifts such as 2 pm‑10 pm and 7 am‑2.30 pm.
Responsibilities
- Give essential and personal care to children and young people with autism and learning disabilities.
- Establish positive relationships with the young people, assess needs and risk, and work jointly in the preparation, implementation, delivery and revision of care plans.
- Ensure that the physical, emotional, religious, educational and psychological needs of children and young people are met.
- Support young people to access activities in and out of the home.
- Support young people with their medical and all‑round health needs, including administration of medication.
- Ensure a high standard of supervision and support is provided, to assist children and young people with autism and learning disabilities.
- Facilitate access to appropriate life opportunities for children and young people with autism and learning disabilities that promote individual growth and inclusion.
- Possess relevant personal or work experience caring for children, young people or vulnerable adults with disabilities.
Qualifications
- Have an awareness of the social, cultural, emotional and physical developmental needs of children.
- Be able to work as a team member and on your own initiative.
- Be able to use varied communication methods well, including verbal, written and electronic.
- Be willing to complete the level three diploma in residential care within two years of commencing employment.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post. The post is subject to a DBS Enhanced check with a barred list check.
