Description
An opportunity has arisen for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the Parking team, responsible for the Council’s on‑and off‑street parking enforcement. The role involves undertaking patrols and issuing penalty charge notices to vehicles parked in contravention of Traffic Regulation Orders.
To succeed, you must have a good basic level of education and be able to read, understand and follow policies and procedures. Experience of working in a customer‑based environment, a good understanding of smartphones, and knowledge of personal health and safety requirements are required.
You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain composed in difficult and conflicting situations. The role requires a customer‑focused attitude, initiative, teamwork, and the capability to work independently as well as within a team.
You must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and cope with the physical and emotional demands of the job. A current driving licence is essential.
Travel to various locations within South Lanarkshire will be required, using the council provided vehicle and patrolling assigned areas on foot.

Salary
£28,358 – £28,577 annual salary
Eligibility and Requirements
• You must be able to read, understand and follow policies and procedures.• Experience in a customer‑based environment is required.• A good understanding of smartphones is necessary.• Knowledge of personal health and safety requirements is mandatory.• Strong verbal and written communication skills essential.• Ability to remain composed in difficult situations.• Customer‑focused and able to work both independently and as part of a team.• Must work outside in all weather conditions.• Current driving licence required.• Willingness and ability to travel within South Lanarkshire and patrol on foot.• You must not engage in canvassing of elected members or employees of South Lanarkshire Council directly or indirectly in connection with any appointment within the Council, as this disqualifies the applicant.• For applicants born outside the UK or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of twelve months in the past 10 years, an overseas criminal records check is required. The check must be translated into English and include an official statement confirming no history of pending criminal record proceedings.
