Band 3 Senior Assistant Technical Officer – Pharmacy Production
Pharmacy Technical Services.
Full Time – equating to 37.5 hours per week, part time will be considered.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join our well established team in Pharmacy Technical Services.
The MHRA licenced ‘Specials’ pharmacy manufacturing unit is based at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and is a modern purpose built unit within the hospital. The service encompasses aseptic, chemotherapy and pre-pack (over labelling and repackaging products) supplying both the Trust and external organisations. As a department we constantly strive to re-engineer our services to improve our delivery of patient focused pharmaceutical care and customer satisfaction.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated senior assistant technical officer to work with our team in technical services.
- Set up and prepare medicines made within Pharmacy Technical Services; involving working in a controlled environment and wearing protective garments and shoes.
- Understand and follow standard operating procedures and have good manual dexterity.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of quality systems ensuring compliance with the terms of the MHRA Manufacturing “Specials” Licence in regard to all compounding and manufacturing processes.
- Be supported with external and internal training in pharmacy services and associated technical activities where required.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- 4 GCSEs grade C/4 or above or equivalent must include Maths, English and Science
- Willingness to work towards NVQ L2 in pharmacy services if not already achieved
- A Levels / Degree level education in science related field
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
- Experience of following standard working instructions/procedures
- Experience of stock control
- Ability to communicate with a range of people
- Ability to investigate queries, taking action if appropriate
- Ability to realise when it is necessary to liaise with senior staff
- At least 1 years’ previous experience in a similar role
- Experience of good manufacturing practice
- Preparation of aseptic products
