Overview

VIVO Defence Services provides facilities management and accommodation maintenance for the UK military and its partners. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Painter & Decorator to join our team at RAF Alconbury, delivering high-quality finishes across military housing.

Location & Contract

RAF Alconbury, Alconbury, Peeblesshire, GB

Full‑time, permanent contract.

Salary

£32,000 – £34,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance living spaces for service families and personnel.
  • Deliver high‑standard painting and decorating in occupied and vacant properties, focusing on move‑in and move‑out works under tight deadlines.
  • Prepare surfaces, including filling holes, repairing walls, and preparing finishes to a professional standard.
  • Support light remedial works such as plastering, skim jointing and surface repairs.
  • Execute both internal and external decorating to maintain a consistently high standard.
  • Manage site protection, maintain clean working practices, attend inspections and address snagging issues efficiently.
  • Operate a company work van and fuel card across RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth.
  • Work client‑facing, responsible and self‑sufficient, with strong communication skills when engaging with colleagues and clients.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in painting and decorating to a high standard.
  • Relevant qualification such as City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Additional skills in plastering, skim jointing, filling and surface repair are highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent time management and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and a professional, customer‑focused approach.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
  • Subject to BPSS clearance.
