Field Technician – Covering Huddersfield in West Yorkshire

Location: Covering Huddersfield in West Yorkshire based out of our Fixby depot.
Work type: Permanent 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday plus a 24/7 rota.
We have an exciting opportunity for Clean Water Field Technicians to join the clean water distribution department at Yorkshire Water and help provide the best service to our customers.
We provide essential water and wastewater services to the Yorkshire region and plan to look after communities, protect the environment, and support the region’s health, wellbeing and prosperity.
Responsibilities
- Cover the South West areas as part of a tight‑knit team.
- Work both independently and within the team to deliver challenging performance commitments.
- Problem‑solve and work under pressure while liaising with other departments to resolve network issues.
- Safely carry out day‑to‑day activities on a 24/7 rota, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to required quality.
- Perform proactive network operation and maintenance activities, complete operational risk assessments and supervise all network interventions.
- Respond quickly and effectively to network failures to minimise impact on key performance targets.
- Deliver front‑line customer service, resolve customer queries through appointments, and promote repair and maintenance work when required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience delivering against challenging upper‑quartile business targets and performance commitments.
- Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships and act as a role model.
- Ability to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
- A positive approach to change, embracing technology, process, behavioural and organisational change.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service both internally and externally.
- Excellent communication skills.
- IT literate.
- Team player capable of working across multiple teams while respecting others and supporting development.
Additional Experience (Beneficial)
- Previous experience in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment.
- Experience in the water or wastewater sectors, or within utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
- Technical understanding of water network and assets.
