Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students within lessons, small groups and individual interventions
  • Helping pupils engage positively with learning and school life
  • Building trusted, consistent relationships with young people
  • Using relational approaches to support behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and social development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and wider professionals to meet individual needs
  • Supporting pupils throughout the school day, including transitions and enrichment activities
  • Promoting inclusion, wellbeing and positive outcomes for every child
  • Supporting with intimate care where required

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with autism and additional needs
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • A calm, nurturing and positive approach
  • Good behaviour management skills with a relational focus
  • Understanding of inclusive and personalised learning approaches
  • Good organisation and time‑management skills
  • GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications) including English and Maths

Desirable Criteria

  • A Level 3 or SEND‑related qualification
  • Experience supporting pupils working below age‑related expectations
  • Experience working with vulnerable or at‑risk children
  • Experience supporting intimate care
  • Knowledge of partnership or community working

Salary and Hours

Full‑time equivalent salary: £25,583‑£27,254 per annum, permanent, plus generous pension and sick pay scheme. Two part‑time positions available:

  • 3 days per week (Monday‑Wednesday, 8:30‑16:30). Salary: £13,537‑£14,422 per annum for term‑time only.
  • 4 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30‑16:30, 8:30‑16:00 on Friday). Salary: £18,050‑£19,229 per annum for term‑time only.
