A rewarding, person centred role where you can make a real difference!
I’m a 40-year-old man living independently in my own home in Aberdare. I sustained a brain injury following an accident in 2003 and currently receive 24-hour support from my family and a team of support workers. I walk independently but use a wheelchair for longer distances. I am highly motivated and committed to my ongoing rehabilitation. I attend weekly physiotherapy sessions and go to the gym three times a week. I am determined to continue improving and am looking for like‑minded, supportive people to assist me on this journey. I enjoy spending time with others, have a good sense of humour, and like getting out into the community. My interests include going to the cinema, attending the gym, and exploring new activities and rehabilitation opportunities.
I am looking for a male rehabilitation support worker to play a key role in supporting my independence and quality of life. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting me with day-to-day household to increase my independence
- Encouraging and assisting me to access the community, gym, attending football matches and other exploring new activities.
- Supporting my rehabilitation by completing therapy tasks set by my multidisciplinary team
- Helping to plan and develop meaningful daily activities
- Providing positive behavioural support, including offering time and space when I become frustrated
I experience some cognitive difficulties and receive support from an occupational therapist and neuropsychologist. While I communicate well, I can become frustrated at times, which may lead to short bursts of anger. You will need to respond calmly, positively, and with patience.
