Single Homeless Project has an opportunity for a Floating Support Worker to join our Westminster team. The position is full‑time, permanent, with a competitive salary starting at £29,029 and rising to £31,146.38 per annum.

About the Floating Support Worker Role

As a Floating Support Worker you will support people living across Westminster to sustain their tenancies, navigate challenges, and build the confidence and skills needed to live independently. Your role involves working closely with clients in their homes and communities, creating realistic, empowering, and person‑centred support plans. You will assist with rent arrears, service reconnection, settlement into new housing, and steps toward work, training, or wellbeing. You will operate as part of Westminster Floating Support, a fast‑paced, collaborative service funded by Westminster City Council, and build partnerships with local services and agencies to provide holistic support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support people facing multiple disadvantage, including homelessness, mental ill health, substance use, domestic abuse or social isolation.
  • Help clients manage practical risks to tenancy such as budgeting, benefits, rent arrears, housing options and independent living skills.
  • Work in a psychologically informed, strengths‑based way to motivate and empower clients.
  • Balance empathy with professional curiosity: conduct support planning, risk assessment and safeguarding.
  • Manage a varied caseload, working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve lasting outcomes.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting people with multiple disadvantage, including homelessness, mental ill health, substance use, domestic abuse or social isolation.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and help clients feel heard, respected, and supported.
  • Confidence navigating practical challenges risk to tenancy: budgeting, benefits, rent arrears, housing options and independent living skills.
  • Psychologically informed, strengths‑based approach to motivate and empower people.
  • Balance empathy with professional curiosity using support planning, risk assessment and safeguarding.
  • Organised, proactive, able to manage a varied caseload and collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Requires an Enhanced DBS check.

Benefits Package

  • Salary increase after successfully completing six‑month probationary period.
  • 37.5‑hour working week including flexible hours (core hours 10:00‑16:00) in non‑accommodation services.
