Workshop & Trailer Technician – Step Up from Automotive to HGV
Position: Full‑time with a 4 On / 4 Off shift pattern.
Location: Scunthorpe.
Starting salary: £40,000+ with higher salary available after training and progression.
The Role
- Routine servicing and maintenance on trailers and commercial vehicles
- Mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis and repair
- Pre‑MOT inspections and DVSA‑compliant repairs
- Work on braking systems, suspension, lighting, hydraulics and trailer components
- Use workshop diagnostic equipment and tools safely and effectively
- Complete maintenance records and inspection paperwork accurately
- Support workshop operations as part of a strong team environment
What We’re Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (essential)
- Experience as an automotive technician, vehicle technician, car mechanic, or similar
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn the HGV industry
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Previous HGV or trailer experience
- Welding or fabrication experience
- IRTEC accreditation
- HGV Class 1 or 2 licence
