Workshop & Trailer Technician – Step Up from Automotive to HGV

Position: Full‑time with a 4 On / 4 Off shift pattern.

Location: Scunthorpe.

Starting salary: £40,000+ with higher salary available after training and progression.

The Role

• Routine servicing and maintenance on trailers and commercial vehicles
• Mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis and repair
• Pre‑MOT inspections and DVSA‑compliant repairs
• Work on braking systems, suspension, lighting, hydraulics and trailer components
• Use workshop diagnostic equipment and tools safely and effectively
• Complete maintenance records and inspection paperwork accurately
• Support workshop operations as part of a strong team environment

What We’re Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (essential)
• Experience as an automotive technician, vehicle technician, car mechanic, or similar
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn the HGV industry
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable (Not Essential)

• Previous HGV or trailer experience
• Welding or fabrication experience
• IRTEC accreditation
• HGV Class 1 or 2 licence
