About the role
Rail Replacement Coordinator (operational, field-based, customer service role) – Salary: £14.89 per hour, Location: Bristol, Hours: variety of shift times including early mornings, evenings, late nights and weekends on an annualised 10 hrs minimum contract – casual contract.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the safe and timely operation of rail replacement bus, events and coach services.
- Ensure the safety of passengers, colleagues, public and yourself.
- Provide assistance and information to passengers while consistently demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
- Maintain high standards in data collection via the coordination portal.
- Help FTS maintain high vehicle standards and regulations auditing.
- Engage drivers on regulations and adherence to PSVAR/PSVAIR.
- Act independently and use own initiative while working both as a team member and autonomously.
- Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, late nights and weekends.
- Work on a casual, annualised hours contract (minimum 10 hours per year), with shifts mainly on weekends as permitted by rail replacement operations.
- Be physically fit to stand up to 12 hours, handle passenger luggage in all weather conditions and access own transportation located within 10 miles of key stations.
Please note that this is a safety‑critical role and is physically demanding. You will be on your feet for up to 12 hours, handling passenger luggage in all weather conditions, sometimes without shelter, and you must have access to your own transportation and be located within 10 miles of one of the key stations.
Qualifications
- Desirable: experience working in the transport industry (not essential).
- Committed to providing a consistently excellent standard of customer service.
- Confident in engaging drivers on regulations and adherence to PSVAR/PSVAIR.
- Excellent communicator, enthusiastic and approachable.
- Patient, reliable, calm under pressure.
- Confident working as a team and independently, using own initiative.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shift times, including early mornings, evenings, late nights and weekends.
