The Opportunity⭐
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Director to join a market-leading media and events business in a pivotal senior leadership position.
This is a highly commercial, client-facing role responsible for driving revenue growth across events, subscriptions, recruitment and integrated media solutions.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead multiple high-performing sales teams while shaping commercial strategy, developing key industry relationships and identifying new growth opportunities.
This role would suit a commercially driven leader with a strong background in events, media or publishing, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building both teams and long-term client partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership
- Own and deliver annual revenue targets across:
- Conference, awards and exhibition sponsorship sales
- Subscription sales
- Recruitment advertising
- Integrated client solutions including webinars, podcasts, roundtables and digital advertising
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to maximise growth and profitability
- Work closely with senior leadership on annual budgeting, forecasting and business planning
Team Management
- Lead and mentor senior managers and their respective teams across sales and commercial functions
- Set clear objectives, monitor performance and support professional development
- Collaborate with HR to ensure teams are structured for long-term success and scalability
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative and commercially focused culture
Client & Industry Engagement
- Build strong relationships with key sponsors, exhibitors and senior stakeholders across the industry
- Represent the business at events, meetings and networking opportunities
- Identify and secure new business opportunities and strategic partnerships
- Develop innovative commercial offerings aligned with market trends and client needs
Strategic Growth
- Support the development of new products, commercial initiatives and audience engagement opportunities
- Drive innovation across media and event offerings
- Use market insight and customer feedback to shape future commercial direction
What We’re Looking For
- Proven senior commercial leadership experience within media, events, publishing or B2B environments
- Strong track record of delivering and exceeding revenue targets
- Experience managing and developing large sales teams
- Exceptional relationship-building and negotiation skills
- Commercially strategic with a hands-on leadership style
- Confident representing a brand externally at senior level
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growth and innovation
