Job Title: Pastoral Support Worker
Where: Southport
Hours: Full-time (Monday – Friday 40 hours per week)
Wage: £12.71 per hour
Contract: Permanent (with 6‑month probation)

Main Purpose of the Role
- To provide high‑quality pastoral, emotional, and practical support to tenants.
- To promote the wellbeing, independence, and personal development of tenants in a safe and supportive environment.
- To build positive and professional relationships with tenants, encouraging trust, stability, and engagement.
- To contribute to a caring, inclusive, and faith‑based environment that reflects the values of the organisation.
- To work collaboratively with the Housing Team to support tenants in maintaining their tenancy and achieving positive outcomes.
- To encourage tenants to access appropriate services, opportunities, and community support networks.
- To maintain a professional, compassionate, and non‑judgemental approach in all areas of the role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building supportive relationships with tenants through regular contact and encouragement.
- Providing emotional and practical support tailored to the individual needs of tenants.
- Supporting tenants with budgeting, benefits, appointments, utilities, and general tenancy‑related matters.
- Assisting tenants to develop life skills, routines, and move towards independent living.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting tenants to manage challenging behaviours appropriately.
- Liaising with external agencies, support services, families, and healthcare professionals where appropriate.
- Supporting tenants to access education, employment, training, volunteering, and community opportunities.
- Promoting tenant wellbeing, inclusion, dignity, and equality at all times.
- Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, incidents, and emergencies.
- Working closely with colleagues and management to ensure effective support planning and service delivery.
- Attending team meetings, training sessions, and supervision as required.
- Supporting the organisation’s Christian ethos and values while respecting the beliefs and backgrounds of all tenants.
- Encouraging tenant engagement in positive activities, wellbeing initiatives, and community life.
About You
- Good literacy and numeracy skills are expected, and GCSEs in English and Maths, or equivalents, are preferred.
- Experience in social care or related fields is beneficial, as is a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
