Overview

As a Pastoral Tutor, you’ll be joining a dynamic and high‑achieving team that takes pride in supporting GCSE and A Level students aged 14‑19 to reach their full potential academically, personally, and professionally. Our students consistently achieve excellent results and you will provide the guidance, encouragement, and pastoral care needed to thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Support students to become ‘Future Ready’ and progress to university, apprenticeships, and careers across 14‑18 GCSE and A Level.
  • Co‑develop a forward‑thinking curriculum that reflects the demands of the future job market.
  • Collaborate with Pastoral Tutor colleagues at High Pavement and across the college on tutorial delivery, enrichment and other events.
  • Facilitate group tutorials and sessions designed to develop personal, social and employability skills.
  • Maintain tutor groups, hold 1‑1 sessions as appropriate, support attendance, provide enrichment, support social action projects, and liaise with parents/guardians.
  • Provide pastoral guidance and signpost students to appropriate support mechanisms.
  • Participate in a training/induction period and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • GCSE: C in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Evidence of managing groups of students and good ICT and administration skills.
  • Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one (post‑graduate training is expected for group tutorial delivery).
