About the Role
Our Security and Parking team are seeking proactive team players with experience dealing with members of the public. Transferrable skills from hospitality backgrounds are welcome alongside current security experience or a police or military background.
Key responsibilities include patrols, responding to incidents, writing reports, and enforcing the site traffic policy. IT literacy and digital competence are required for handheld device reporting. You will build rapport with individuals to diffuse complex situations, ensuring staff, patients and visitors enjoy a safe environment.

Main duties of the job
- Respond to incidents on Trust property, including investigations into suspicious behaviours or criminal activities such as theft and anti‑social behaviour.
- Provide a professional, uniformed security presence supporting clinical staff and responding to clinical incidents.
- Protect Trust property from malicious damage and theft, promoting a safe, positive environment.
- Accurately record every incident, gathering all relevant information and completing detailed reports.
- Maintain an effective security presence in the Emergency Department (ED) areas during rotational shifts, ensuring the ED patient service is not impacted.
- Assist with fire alarm evacuations and liaise with Trust Departments and the Avon Fire and Rescue Service.
- Uphold and enforce the Trust Parking policy, including cash collections, issuing parking charge notices and managing car park closures.
- Report all health and safety breaches and near misses per the Trust Adverse Incident Reporting policy.
- Support risk management for the division, identifying risks and maintaining controls.
Job responsibilities
- Provide a proactive, well‑presented, professional, uniformed security presence for North Bristol Trust.
- Take the lead responding to incidents on Trust property, undertaking investigations into theft and anti‑social behaviour.
- Remain calm and professional under pressure during highly stressed and emotive events.
- Be ready to respond to every incident, prepared for alarm activations, violence & aggression, and other significant events.
- Respond to all security incidents with a high sense of urgency.
- Assist with the detention of patients under the Mental Health Act 2007 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 where called upon.
- Provide support and assistance to clinical staff, including lawful use of clinical holding and restraint.
- Ensure safety, security and welfare of Trust staff, patients and others.
- Promote a safe, positive environment to reduce crime.
- Accurately record every incident, gathering all relevant information, and complete detailed reports.
- Maintain an effective security presence in the ED on a rotational basis, intercepting problematic behaviours.
- Detect and investigate any criminality on Trust property.
- Record security incidents fairly, objectively and professionally.
- Maintain up‑to‑date pocket notebook records of each incident attended.
- Complete specialist training for safer clinical holding and restraint where required.
- Conduct the required amount of internal and external patrols each shift, completing site‑specific activities.
- Assist with fire alarm evacuations, liaising with departments and fire service.
- Uphold and enforce the Trust Parking policy.
- Assist with car park cash collections, issuing parking charge notices, and support car park and traffic management.
- Ensure compliance with national and local Health & Safety requirements, reporting breaches and near misses.
- Support risk management by identifying risks or opportunities, implementing and maintaining controls.
- Report all uncontrolled risk to Security management.

Person Specification
Education/Training/Qualifications
- SIA License
- NVQ Level 2 Customer Service or equivalent
- GCSE or higher for English Language (spoken and written)
- CCTV licence
