Electrical Services Design Engineer

We are currently working with a well-established , building services contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Services Design Engineer to join their in-house design team based in Northampton.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential-led developments including high-rise residential, student accommodation and hotel schemes, within a fast-paced design & build environment.

The role will suit a technically strong and commercially aware Electrical Design Engineer who is confident working from concept through to handover and enjoys collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Role

• Developing electrical services designs through all stages up to BSRIA Stage 6.




• Supporting the estimating team during design & build tender submissions.




• Providing technical support through installation and commissioning phases up to final handover.




• Liaising with specialist subcontractors, manufacturers and suppliers to ensure appropriate equipment specification and integration.




• Identifying and proposing alternative design solutions to enhance value and buildability.




• Monitoring design progress and producing regular progress reports.




• Attending and contributing to internal and external meetings.

Candidate Profile

• Strong technical knowledge across all aspects of electrical building services design.




• A solid understanding of the Building Safety Act and compliance requirements for Higher Risk Buildings.




• Commercial awareness with experience designing in line with cost plans and budgets.




• The ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.




• Strong coordination skills working alongside architects, consultants, developers and contractors.




• Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills.




• A proactive, detail-oriented and solutions-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 4/5 qualification in Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent).




• Professional membership (or working towards) desirable.
