About the Role
We are seeking a SEMH Learning Support Assistant – Youth Resilience & Life Skills to join a specialist alternative provision supporting learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
This role focuses on helping young people develop resilience, emotional regulation, and practical life skills to thrive in school and beyond. You will provide classroom support, deliver targeted interventions, and mentor learners to build confidence, engagement, and positive decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support learners in‑class and through 1:1 or small‑group sessions
- Deliver interventions focused on resilience, emotional regulation, and personal development
- Encourage positive decision‑making and goal‑setting
- Contribute to EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Monitor wellbeing and engagement, escalating concerns as needed
- Act as a stable, positive role model for students
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience supporting SEMH learners or alternative provision settings
- Understands trauma‑informed approaches and restorative practice
- Can manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
- Is passionate about mentoring, life skills, and youth empowerment
- Has strong communication and relationship‑building skills
DBS on the Update Service is desirable; training and ongoing CPD provided.
