Job Description
Purpose of the role: develop the strategic direction for relationship teams, including the implementation of up‑to‑date methodologies and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage relationship teams, overseeing colleague performance, implementing goals and objectives, and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with the broader Barclays group to promote seamless collaboration across all channels and segments, supporting integrated business planning.
- Oversee all risk aspects, including conduct and credit risk, ensuring full compliance to enhance customer outcomes.
- Monitor the financial performance of relationship teams, including revenue, profitability, and cost control.
- Conduct thorough market research to understand client needs, market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes, identifying growth opportunities.
- Deliver excellent service to customers, consistently meeting ongoing needs while operating at required cost levels.
- Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, and develop talent and succession within the team.
- Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees, influencing decisions beyond the own function.
- Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub‑function and coordinate strategic initiatives.
- Escalate breaches of policies or procedures appropriately; foster compliance and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Influence external stakeholders, regulators, and advocacy groups on behalf of Barclays.
- Lead a team of UK Tech bankers, designing and executing strategies to increase market share, income, debit and credit balances in the UK Tech market.
- Collaborate with other specialist bankers across UKC, International Corporate Bank, Investment Banking, business development, large corporate lending, credit risk, portfolio, product, and marketing.
- Act as the principal contact point for key clients and counterparts and serve as a spokesperson for the function and business division.

- Train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists.
- Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and strategic recommendations within your area.
