This KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant role offers a full‑time, temporary to permanent opportunity starting in September 2026. The KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils with additional needs within a Key Stage 3 setting, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and build confidence during an important stage of their education. This role is ideal for a calm, resilient, and committed KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusive practice and supporting pupils to make meaningful progress.
Duties as KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant
- Support pupils with SEND within a Key Stage 3 classroom environment
- Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
- Assist with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to follow support plans
- Support pupils during transitions, lessons, and unstructured times
- Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Observe and share information regarding pupil progress and well‑being
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant
- Experience supporting young people with SEND, ideally within Key Stage 3
- Understanding of inclusive practice and adolescent development
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Flexible and responsive to individual needs
- Willingness to begin on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
