NPD Technologist
This role is for a BRC AA graded food manufacturer that produces high‑quality food products and provides exceptional service to support customers in innovating and increasing productivity without compromising on quality.
Overview
The NPD Technologist will support the NPD Manager in the development and innovation of products, collaborating with all departments to ensure that products and services are delivered within agreed specifications and that key development trends in the food industry are integrated. The role also involves maintaining excellent relationships with customers, external contacts, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Senior Technologist to translate ideas into new products.
- Test new ingredients and materials with suppliers to meet project needs.
- Keep up with industry trends and introduce new ideas into development.
- Prepare samples and documentation for internal teams and customers.
- Ensure all products are properly tested and meet quality, safety, and customer standards.
- Support timelines to facilitate smooth transition of products into production.
- Follow HACCP guidelines and maintain accurate product records, clear traceability, and readiness for audits.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with teams, customers, and suppliers, communicating clearly, solving problems, sharing feedback, and presenting products engagingly.
Qualifications
- Food science degree or relevant subject.
- Experience in new product development and/or process experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety protocols and HACCP procedures is advantageous.
Compensation & Hours
Pay: £28,000 – £30,000, dependent on experience.
Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; Friday 07:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester. Commute from Manchester, Bolton, Warrington, Preston, Ormskirk, St Helens, Chorley, Bury and other areas of Lancashire and Merseyside is possible.
