Cabling Engineers

Job Description

OCU Group are looking for motivated Fibre Cabling Engineers to join our expanding team. You’ll be working on a range of telecoms infrastructure projects including TR&R (Test, Rod, and Rope), micro duct and subduct installation, and fibre cable installation (hand pull, mechanically assisted, and blowing).

Location: Reading

We are seeking individuals who take pride in their work, understand the importance of health and safety, and want to grow with a trusted name in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out TR&R, microduct/subduct, and fibre cable installation tasks to OCU and client standards
• Complete weekly personal admin including timesheets, vehicle checks, and equipment logs
• Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and hazard reporting
• Maintain a professional standard of workmanship with minimal supervision once trained
• Work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors

Essential Requirements

• Valid UK Driving Licence
• Ability to pass a basic DBS check
• Willingness to travel and work away from home
• Flexibility for day and night shifts (and occasional weekends)
• Positive attitude, reliability, and a strong work ethic

Preferred Requirements

• Experienced in the following tasks:
  • TR&R
  • Installation of subduct and microduct
  • Installation of fibre cabling by hand pulling, mechanically assisted and blowing.
• NRSWA Accreditation
• PIA Accreditations
• Confined Spaces Accreditation
