Based in Catshill, Chadsgrove Educational Trust Specialist College is a further education provision for students aged 19-25 whose special educational needs arise from their physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs. Some of our students have profound and multiple learning difficulties, sensory impairments and/or communication difficulties.
Responsibilities
The role of an LSA is varied and consists of supporting teaching activities and assisting with the changing and personal care requirements of some of our students. Learning in the community plays a significant part of our curriculum, successful applicants will be expected to support students with their offsite learning as required.
The work of an LSA often involves the manual handling of students. Applicants therefore need to be physically fit and capable of working cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team. It is essential that applicants are ambitious for our students, have the ability to empathise, can work positively with individuals’ needs and are adaptable with a good sense of humour.
Qualifications
Previous experience of working with adults with a physical disability would be an advantage but is not essential as a bespoke, robust training package will be provided. It is essential that you are willing to be trained to administer medication if necessary.
