Painter and Decorator – Subcontractor

£35,000 – £38,000 pa | Birmingham | 40hr working week | Overtime rates | Mileage allowance

We are seeking a skilled Painter and Decorator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, painting, and decorating interior and exterior surfaces to a high standard throughout Hotels, Cafés, Care homes & Restaurant / Pub Chains in the Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming.
• Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
• Decorate interior and exterior spaces according to client specifications.
• Protect surrounding areas and furniture from damage during work.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and organised manner.
• Communicate effectively with clients, providing advice on finishes and techniques.
• Complete work to agreed deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• NVQ or equivalent qualification in painting and decorating (desirable)
• Proven experience as a painter and decorator.
• Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and in various physical conditions.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Health and safety awareness, including the safe use of ladders.

Benefits

• Basic salary from £35,000 – £38,000 pa.
• 40hr working week: 08:30am – 04:30pm.
• Overtime rates.
• Mileage allowance.
