Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant – Year 4 (1:1 Support)

Are you an empathetic and resilient professional with experience supporting children with SEND and challenging behaviour? Are you confident using behaviour management strategies to help pupils engage positively with learning?
The Role
- Provide focused 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with behavioural needs
- Use effective de‑escalation and behaviour management strategies to support positive outcomes
- Work closely with the class teacher and external professionals to follow an individual support plan
- Encourage the pupil’s engagement in learning and classroom activities
- Maintain a calm, positive, and consistent approach throughout the school day
- Record behaviour incidents, progress, and interventions when required
- Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil to encourage confidence and development
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or challenging behaviour
- Team‑Teach training, or willingness to complete relevant training
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour support
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to adapt quickly to changing situations within the classroom
- A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
