Adoption Support Social Worker

Grade 7/8 – £43,680 – £50,317.2 per annum

We are recruiting an experienced social worker to join an Adoption Support Team within Adopt London East, a regional adoption agency that provides services on behalf of the London Boroughs of Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Tower Hamlets and Newham. The team provides a service to adopted children, their adoptive families, birth families and adopted adults.

Job Description

Position: Adoption Support Social Worker (1 year fixed‑term contract / secondment opportunity)

Responsibilities

  • Assess the support needs of adoptive families and provide intervention support.
  • Work alongside multi‑professional networks including education, social care and early help teams.
  • Deliver core services such as courses for parents and opportunities for adoptive families to meet each other.
  • Work with adopted adults, completing assessments and support plans, preparing and sharing adoption records, and supporting relationships between adopted young adults and their birth families.
  • Manage a caseload, carry out high‑quality assessments, support planning and ensure safeguarding and protection of children.
  • Identify and assess risk and need, delivering protective or supportive services for children and families.
  • Proactively seek and use information to inform service delivery and meet the current and future needs of children, families and adopted adults.

Qualifications & Why You’re a Good Fit

  • CQSW, Diploma in Social Work, or equivalent qualification with HCPC registration.
  • Firm knowledge of current policy and practice, and ability to apply legislation to work practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience of working in an adoption service and an understanding of adoption‑relevant issues (advantage).
