CS&A Responsible Engineer
WarringtonStaff or Contract (Inside IR35)
The CS&A Responsible Engineer (RE) holds full technical accountability for Civils, Structural & Architectural engineering within their area, ensuring all work is safe, compliant and fit for purpose across the project lifecycle. Working to R2A2 (ED21), you’ll provide technical leadership, governance and assurance while retaining responsibility for key engineering decisions.
Key Responsibilities & Experience
- Strong CS&A background in regulated, safety‑critical environments
- Proven technical accountability and decision‑making experience
- Ensure compliance with legislation, standards and safety requirements
- Establish governance, assurance and verification processes
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams and resolve complex technical issues
- Interface with project teams, regulators and assurance bodies
- Promote a strong safety, quality and compliance culture
Desirable Experience
- Planning, site master planning and council engagement
- Contaminated land, utilities and ground investigations
- Seismic and heavy industrial/plant room design
- Nuclear or high‑hazard environments
- Safety case development and regulatory engagement
- Full lifecycle delivery: concept to commissioning
- Managing deviations, non‑conformances and improvements
Requirements
- Familiar with engineering governance and gated processes
- SQEP aligned with SR0698 and ED21 standards
Essential Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in CS&A or related engineering discipline
- Extensive CS&A experience suitable for a Responsible Engineer role
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) with a recognised institution
- Able to meet security clearance and site access requirements
Desirable Qualifications
- Fellowship or senior membership of a professional institution
- Training in nuclear safety, functional safety or systems engineering
- Postgraduate qualification in engineering or management
