We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Harrow area supporting students in Years 7-11 with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) needs.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students both in and outside of the classroom. You will play a key role in helping pupils manage behaviour, regulate emotions, and engage positively with learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH and ASD needs
  • Support pupils across Years 7-11
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence
  • Support the class teacher with differentiated learning activities
  • Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with SEMH and/or ASD students essential
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils preferred
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Team Teach or de-escalation training desirable but not essential
