Responsibilities
- Ensure exterior of building and grounds maintained to a safe and good standard.
- Coordinate and control all building works and refurbishments with minimum disturbance to residents and staff.
- Carry out routine monitoring and repairs on all systems and liaise with the Home Manager for specialist repairs.
- Ensure regular tests and checks are recorded, including boiler function checks, fire alarm activation, water service checks, and water temperature tests.
- Advise the Home Manager on potential maintenance problems such as heating, refrigeration, electrics, gas, and faulty equipment.
- Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act (e.g., COSHH) and record all health and safety checks.
- Ensure safety and cleanliness within the Care Home and grounds meet Environmental Health, Fire, and Safety regulations.
- Maintain and store tools and equipment safely.
- Serve as the first point of call for staff repairs and assist with staff induction, including operation of emergency exits, fire points, and evacuation procedures.
- Provide advice by telephone and be available for emergencies when off duty.
- Assist in driving the Home’s minibus or similar vehicles for residents’ outings as requested by the Home Manager.
Full training will be provided, including a leadership programme to support development and progression opportunities.
