Job Description:

It is important that you are sensitive to the needs and boundaries of the family and are able to support the child’s parent when it comes to maintaining their structure and values.

One position Variable hours/bank with both day and night shifts available across various patterns.

One position includes set night shifts of 2 nights per week: Thursday 9:00pm–7:30am and Friday 9:00pm–8:00am.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Supporting a full time wheelchair user with moving and handling.
  • Assisting with medication administration through gastrostomy.
  • Assisting with blended diet administration through gastrostomy.
  • Supporting him to engage in community, social, and recreational activities.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of care provided.
  • Following individual care plans and reporting any changes or concerns to supervisors.
  • Upholding dignity, respect, and confidentiality at all times.

Person Specification

Essential

  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable individuals.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills for recording and reporting.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding practices.
  • Right to work in the UK (we do not offer sponsorship).
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a care or support role.
  • Level 2 or above qualification in Health and Social Care (or working towards it).
  • First Aid and Manual Handling training.
  • Knowledge of person‑centred care approaches.
  • Understanding his specific needs (e.g., learning disability, non‑verbal, lennox gastaut syndrome, complex epilepsy, gastrostomy).
