Social Worker – Safeguarding / Child Protection Team – Bath & North East Somerset
Location: Keynsham, Bath & North East Somerset. Competitive rate (please enquire).
Role: Full-time, Initial 3-month contract, Office based/community working (hybrid element).
Join a busy Safeguarding / Child Protection Team within Bath & North East Somerset Council. Work includes Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Court work.
About the role
You will be part of a safeguarding team supporting children and families through statutory social work interventions, ensuring strong safeguarding practice and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of CIN, CP and Court work
- Undertake assessments and safeguarding interventions
- Progress child protection and legal processes
- Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies
- Contribute to care planning and court proceedings
- Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing remain central to practice
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker (Social Work England registered)
- Experience in safeguarding / child protection work
- Court experience desirable
- Strong assessment and report writing skills
- Ability to manage complex caseloads
- Must have access to a vehicle (rural locality coverage)
Additional Information
This role is based partly in the Keynsham office with an expectation of regular office attendance alongside community-based work. Bath & North East Somerset includes rural areas, therefore access to a vehicle is essential.
