The Project Planner will develop and maintain a Major Project schedule to support the execution of high value and risk projects, supporting the assigned Project Control Manager. Key Responsibilities: * To support the project control manager through all phases from development, execution and closeout * To produce schedule related outputs, including but not limited to: * Periodic schedule performance reports including Gantt chart, milestone, and critical path analysis * To produce an Integrated Major Project schedule, integrating multiple suppliers into a logic tied and potentially resource loaded schedule * To produce and maintain a summary schedule, according to the defined schedule hierarchy, suitable for Board and Executive level engagement * To structure or code the schedule in a manner that would support integration into industry standard Project Control systems (specifically via the defined WBS) * To provide the input on the schedule impact of risks and opportunities and their associated response actions * To define the schedule window of risk and opportunity applicability for contingency management analysis * Analysis of schedule impacts (positive and negative) providing recommendations to the project team for action responses * Approval of the supplier schedules according to the contractual conditions * Initial analysis of the validity of schedule delay claims * Preparation of the schedule elements of Change control documentation, and the implementation of approved change controls * Contribution to the lessons learned workshops from a schedule perspective * Definition of the schedule status method in the WBS Dictionary * Correction of the schedule to comply with schedule quality standards * Period statusing (actual and forecast) of the schedule consistent with the declared schedule status method To ensure that: * Schedule related contract claims are managed according to the declared timelines * To escalate schedule related issues that can cause project delivery performance impacts (positive or negative) * Communication Department related information concerning schedule features is accurate * To contribute to the preparation and annual update of the Major Projects project controls process and procedures * Confirm the validity of project progress through in person engagement (this will involve some off-site travel) * Any other reasonable duties assigned, commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post * Act in a safe manner at all times and comply with all ScotRail internal processes. What you bring: Essential: * Educated to HND level or equivalent * Clear demonstrable experience in a planning or scheduling role for a construction or manufacturing project of value, exceeding circa £100m * Proficiency in MS Project * Expertise MS Excel and PowerPoint * Evidence of report production skills and tailoring for a variety of audiences * APM or PMI accreditation or a willingness to attain this accreditation, evidenced by personal development activities * Experience in engaging effectively across an organisation with technical experts and senior staff * Strong team working skills Desirable: * Experience of building reports with Power BI * Experience in the introduction of a project controls function to a project team * Proficiency in Primavera P6 * Previous experience delivering major projects in the UK rail industry The role works Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week and is based in Atrium Court with hybrid arrangements available (3 days in the office minimum).
