ELP – Forklift Driver

Working within East Lothian Produce’s processing and packaging operation.

The role of the Forklift Driver

• Loading and unloading vehicles
• Supplying raw materials and packaging to Packhouse operatives and removing completed pallets of finished goods ready for despatch
• Completing daily maintenance checks and reporting defects or maintenance issues
• Loading vehicles according to load plan to allow logical unloading of goods
• Storing boxes and trays in an organised and tidy way
• Liaising with Packhouse staff, lorry drivers and managers to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
• Preparation of Rigs in collaboration with the ticket office ensuring accurate tray count
• Loading and unloading Rig Trailers
• Working with the Yard Manager to supervise the Waste Trailer
• General tidying of the yard, keeping exits clear and removing rubbish
• Adhering to health and safety regulations and ensuring proper use of PPE at all times

The ideal Forklift Driver

• Valid forklift licence
• Comfortable working in an agricultural processing and packaging environment
