Smart Solutions is currently recruiting for a reliable and motivated Jet Vac Driver / Operator (HGV Class 2) to join a busy environmental services team.
This is a varied and hands-on role operating Jet Vacuum Tankers and high-pressure water jetting equipment, supporting the cleaning, maintenance, and emergency response of drainage systems, sewers, gullies, tanks, and related infrastructure. The role includes both planned maintenance work and reactive emergency call-outs, making it ideal for someone practical, safety-focused, and comfortable working outdoors.
The Role
- Operate Jet Vac / Vacuum Tankers safely and efficiently
- Carry out sewer line cleansing, drain clearance, and blockage removal
- Use high-pressure water jetting equipment to restore flow and clear blockages
- Complete gully emptying, tank cleaning, wet well and pump station cleansing
- Carry out waste extraction and disposal at licensed sites in line with environmental regulations
- Perform daily vehicle checks, equipment inspections, fluid level checks, and minor maintenance
- Ensure all equipment is clean, maintained, and ready for operation
- Complete service reports, duty of care paperwork, and digital job records accurately
- Set up safe working zones and follow RAMS and company health & safety procedures
- Support reactive and emergency works, working efficiently and professionally under pressure
- Work collaboratively with CCTV drainage teams and operational crews
- Participate in overtime, on-call rotas, and occasional night/weekend shifts when required
What We’re Looking For
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
- Valid Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph Card
- Experience in drainage, jetting, or environmental services is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of drainage systems, RAMS, and safe systems of work
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Customer-focused and professional attitude
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Flexible for on-call work, overtime, and emergency response duties
- Reliable with strong timekeeping and attendance
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Able to work safely using your own initiative when required
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
- High Pressure Water Jetting (WJA) Certification
- CSCS Card
- Streetworks / EUSR Clean Water / SHEA Card
- Previous Jet Vac / Tanker operating experience
- Basic IT skills for digital reporting and paperwork
Working Environment
- Full-time operational role with travel between sites
- Outdoor working in all weather conditions
- Work in drainage environments, including confined spaces and exposed operational areas
- Participation in call-out rota and occasional night/weekend work
