Chef – Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre

Location: Hawes, Yorkshire Dales

Shifts: 5 days per week, 8:30am – 5:00pm including alternate weekends

Annual Salary: £28,000

About This Opportunity

You will be working in our award‑winning visitor experience at Calvert’s Restaurant & 1897 Coffee Shop in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We attract a vast range of visitors all year round and are continuing to grow from strength to strength.

We pride ourselves on using locally sourced, fresh seasonal produce, with an ethos of providing outstanding quality food while showcasing our award‑winning cheeses. This is a very hands‑on role working with our wonderful kitchen team in a great environment with the latest technology, helping to produce outstanding quality food while ensuring our extremely busy kitchen maintains high standards of cleaning and is compliant with all relevant legislation.

This is an ideal opportunity for a passionate and dedicated chef or experienced professional cook at senior commis or chef de partie level. There is also the opportunity for further career progression if desired.

You’ll Make Contributions That Matter By…

  • Supporting the completion of the daily prep list
  • Preparing all menu items / dishes in a timely manner to a very high standard
  • Supporting the development of standard recipes, methods and costings as required
  • Working in conjunction with the management team to benchmark local trends and take an innovative approach to new menu development
  • Maintaining good relationships with customers, the team and suppliers
  • Ensuring all quality standards are maintained throughout service
  • Adhering to strict portion control, in line with standard recipes
  • Monitoring and logging relevant information in relation to HACCP
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and legislative requirements including allergens
  • Ensuring agreed stock levels are maintained throughout service
  • Supporting the kitchen Manager with compiling orders to maintain minimum stock levels
  • Checking delivery of orders for quality and legislative requirementsSupporting the kitchen team in other duties as required
  • Ensuring the kitchens are kept to the highest standard of cleanliness

You’re Best Suited To This Role If You…

  • Have an NVQ level 2 or similar job experience
  • Have at least two years’ experience in a similar environment
  • Show attention to detail
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a positive can‑do attitude and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
