Graduate Apprentice Teacher
Start Date: September 2026
This two‑year programme supports new graduates or individuals seeking to change careers to work towards QTS and become a SEMH Primary Specialist. It is a salaried route into teaching with tuition fees paid from the apprenticeship levy.
Salary & Progression
- Year 1 – Fixed term September–February: FTE £24,796 (Actual £21,300)
- Year 1 – Fixed term February–Summer: FTE £26,403 (Actual £22,681)
- Year 2 – Fixed term September–August: UQT3 £27,785
Responsibilities
- Support the learning of students with SEMH and academic needs in a team of 3 staff with up to 9 students.
- Work alongside a class team to meet EHCP outcomes and develop knowledge of SEN/SEMH support.
- Lead and support small group teaching and academic interventions.
- Plan curriculum and support classroom teachers, including the production of classroom and specialist resources.
- Use and develop ICT skills to facilitate learning.
- Support the development of resilience, social skills and self‑esteem in pupils.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate or a candidate wanting a career change.
- Strong commitment, passion and resilience in working with children with social, emotional, mental health and special educational needs.
- Previous experience in an SEMH setting is an advantage but is not required; training will be provided.
- Commitment to enhancing professional development.
