Do you want to be at the heart of transforming Grimsby town centre—bringing regeneration ambitions to life, strengthening community pride, and shaping a safer, more vibrant place for people to live, work and visit?
If you’re someone who thrives on bringing people together, turning regeneration ambitions into practical action, and leading partnerships to create a safer, more vibrant and welcoming town centre, this role offers the chance to make a visible, lasting impact on Grimsby.
What’s the role all about?
This role sits at the heart of Grimsby’s town centre regeneration. As Town Centre Coordinator, you’ll lead and shape a wide range of initiatives that improve the look, feel and experience of the town centre for residents, businesses and visitors alike. With major regeneration programmes already underway, you’ll play a central role in turning ambition into action—strengthening community pride, increasing footfall, improving safety and supporting a vibrant, welcoming town centre.
Working across council services and with a wide network of external partners, you’ll champion Grimsby as a place to invest, work and live. From developing new ideas and securing external funding, to supporting community safety and promoting town centre events, this is a varied, high‑impact role that blends strategic thinking with practical delivery.
What will your day look like?
You will work closely with council teams, partners and local businesses to develop and deliver regeneration projects from initial concept through to completion. A key part of the role involves leading activity that promotes Grimsby town centre as a safe, vibrant and attractive destination, including supporting events, activation and marketing campaigns. You will coordinate community safety initiatives alongside Community Safety and Regulatory Services, addressing issues such as anti‑social behaviour, environmental crime and business security, while also managing and supporting the Town Centre Ambassadors to ensure a visible presence that provides both reassurance and enforcement. Acting as a vital link between the council and the local business community, you will respond to issues, ideas and opportunities, contribute to major strategies such as the Grimsby Master Plan and Pride in Place Programme, and prepare business cases and funding bids to secure external investment. You will also represent the council at partnership meetings and local forums, sharing insight and helping to shape place‑based responses. Your time will be split between office‑based work, meetings with partners and time spent out in the town centre, keeping you closely connected to the place and the people you’re supporting.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will bring strong experience in economic or community development at a local level, with a proven track record of leading the development of robust business cases and successful funding bids. You will have a comprehensive understanding of regeneration, community safety and external funding landscapes, including key national and regional organisations.
You will be confident in interpreting complex information and translating it into clear, accessible, and practical outputs. With experience of delivering targeted outcomes to agreed objectives, you will be comfortable working to tight deadlines and managing budgets effectively.
Crucially, you will excel at building and maintaining strong working relationships, collaborating effectively with internal colleagues and a broad range of external partners and stakeholders.
Why join us?
This is a rare opportunity to sit at the heart of Grimsby’s town centre regeneration and play a key role in shaping its future. You’ll work on high‑profile programmes that make a real, visible difference to the look, feel and safety of the town centre, helping to build pride, boost footfall and support a thriving local economy. The role offers genuine variety and influence, blending strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery as you develop new ideas, secure external funding, support vibrant events and lead place‑based initiatives from concept to completion. You’ll collaborate closely with council teams, businesses and a wide range of partners, acting as a vital link between the council and the local community, and contributing to major strategies such as the Grimsby Master Plan and Pride in Place Programme. With time split between office work, partnership meetings and being out in the town centre itself, you’ll stay closely connected to the people and places you’re supporting while making a lasting impact on Grimsby as a place to invest, work and live.
