The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Year 6 class during the Autumn Term, guiding pupils through an important stage of their primary education and helping prepare them for a smooth transition into the rest of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with the Key Stage 2 curriculum
  • Supporting pupils’ academic progress and emotional wellbeing
  • Preparing pupils for SATs foundations and maintaining high expectations
  • Using assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform planning
  • Providing support and challenge for all learners, including SEND and higher‑attaining pupils
  • Working closely with the parallel Year 6 teacher, support staff, and leadership team
  • Contributing positively to the wider school community

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
  • Has a secure understanding of the KS2 curriculum
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Is organised, adaptable, and enthusiastic about teaching
  • Brings energy, commitment, and a proactive attitude to the role
  • Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with relevant KS2 placement experience are also encouraged to apply

Salary and Contract Details

  • Contract: Full‑Time, Maternity Cover
  • Duration: 1 Term (Autumn Term)
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)
