An established consultancy supporting major UK defence programmes is expanding its Project Controls team and is looking to appoint Project Controls professionals across multiple levels. This is an opportunity to contribute to complex, high-value defence programmes that play a critical role in national capability.
Due to the nature of the work, existing security clearance is required, or candidates must be eligible to obtain it.
The Opportunity
As a Project Controls Engineer, you will support the successful delivery of large-scale defence programmes by helping to plan, monitor, and control programme performance. Working closely with programme managers, planners, and commercial teams, you will contribute to ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with programme objectives.
The role offers exposure to a broad range of project controls disciplines, providing valuable experience across planning, cost management, performance analysis, and programme governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain programme schedules using Primavera P6/ Microsoft Project
- Support cost tracking, forecasting, and performance monitoring activities
- Analyse project data and produce programme reporting to support decision-making
- Assist with risk management, change control, and governance processes
- Collaborate with programme delivery teams to monitor progress and performance
- Contribute to project controls activities across the full programme lifecycle
Candidate Profile
We are interested in candidates from early career through to senior level, ideally with experience in structured programme or engineering environments.
You may have:
- Experience in project controls, planning, scheduling, or cost management
- Understanding of programme delivery frameworks such as NEC contracts
- Experience using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar planning tools
- Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capability
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach to programme delivery
