We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Lewes, a category B/C Prison located in Sussex. HMP Lewes is a male prison with a capacity of 742 inmates.

Hours

07:30 – 16:30, 4 days a week (no weekends)

Salary

Part‑time position; annual salary up to £29,723 per annum, FTE depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK; offers will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties

  • Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
  • Act as an active member of the pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the service
  • Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
  • Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing‑based clinical areas
  • Collect orders from suppliers at the Main Gate and arrange collection of returns
  • Participate in dispensing prescriptions

Qualifications required

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent, or working towards it
  • Medicines handling experience desirable but not essential
  • Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
  • A non‑judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures
