We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Lewes, a category B/C Prison located in Sussex. HMP Lewes is a male prison with a capacity of 742 inmates.

Hours
07:30 – 16:30, 4 days a week (no weekends)
Salary
Part‑time position; annual salary up to £29,723 per annum, FTE depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK; offers will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties
- Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
- Act as an active member of the pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the service
- Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
- Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing‑based clinical areas
- Collect orders from suppliers at the Main Gate and arrange collection of returns
- Participate in dispensing prescriptions

Qualifications required
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent, or working towards it
- Medicines handling experience desirable but not essential
- Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
- A non‑judgmental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
- Good IT skills and IT literacy
- Ability to work within a busy environment
- Ability to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures
