Job Overview
We are currently looking for a proactive individual to join our Natural Environment Team within our Town Planning service. The team is responsible for ensuring that development is delivered in a way that protects and enhances the natural environment, which includes trees that are protected by Tree Preservation Orders.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will support the Natural Environment Officer by carrying out site inspections, reviewing applications for works to preserved trees, handling tree preservation order records, and providing general advice to the public and potential applicants.
Qualifications and Skills
The post holder will have an interest in the natural environment, particularly arboriculture. We are looking for someone with knowledge of different tree species and general tree surgery techniques. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is a high level of attention to detail and the ability to analyse complex information. The role requires flexibility, with the successful applicant working both independently and as part of a team to meet high expectations of Councillors and residents.
Working Hours and Shift Pattern
The post holder will be required to work 20 hours per week between Monday to Friday, with shift pattern agreed with the successful applicant.
