Experienced Parks Gardener – Outdoor Grounds Maintenance

Location: Upper Malone Road, BelfastContract: Temporary – 12 weeksHours: 37 per week (Mon-Fri)Pay: £14.35 p/h

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting 2 experienced Gardeners to support Belfast City Council’s Parks and Cemeteries Operational Services team. You will help maintain parks, playing fields, landscaped areas, and open spaces across the city. This is a hands‑on, outdoor role involving a wide range of horticultural and grounds maintenance duties.

Key Duties

• Grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning, and turf care
• Sweeping, raking, litter picking, and general site maintenance
• Soil preparation, planting, and seasonal horticultural work
• Use of powered hand tools and light plant equipment
• Sports pitch maintenance (spiking, scarifying, marking out, etc.)
• Loading and moving equipment, plants, soil, and materials
• Basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and machinery
• Working safely in line with Health & Safety procedures

What We’re Looking For

• NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture (or equivalent)
• PA1 & PA6 pesticide application certificates
• At least 1 year’s relevant horticulture/grounds maintenance experience
• Experience dealing with the public in a face-to-face environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
